Holy Apostles is a Parish Church of the Anglican (Church of England) communion. The present Church was built in 1923. However there has been a place of worship on this site since 1904. The Church has a large open nave and can hold up to 400 people. There is a large carpeted area behind the pews. The Baptistry, where the original font stands, has four stained glass windows that are a fine example of the William Morris School. The large Chancel is overlooked by three stained glass windows above the altar. We're a mixed congregation - which translates as, "We've got all sorts of people coming here and most of them are fairly normal". We think they're quite nice too, but you'll only find out if you come and see us. Times change and the church has to change too, keeping the best of the traditional but staying relevant to the needs of each generation. And so, we're about to embark on a re-ordering of the church that will involve losing some of the car park and the church hall, (which was built in 1968 with a life expectancy of 25 years - it's done well and so have the church members who've looked after it). When finished we shall have a church building which is more flexible, more easily maintained, more in keeping with the times and, we hope, not as expensive to heat. No longer will children have to go outside to get to the toilet. Our Ministry is led by our vicar, the Rev Pip Berry, with a, largely, unpaid staff. If you want to know their roles and the names that go with them just check out 'People at Holy Apostles'. Other members of the communty are involved in a variety of ways providing music, leading groups, arranging flowers, checking rotas, sound desk and media, making coffee, looking after the gardens etc... We've got loads of things happening from table tennis to prayer - (I don't know whether at the same time yet! although I guess if you're 20-5 down, prayer mightn't be a bad thing). Check out the calendar for what's going on or use the form on the 'Get in Touch' page to contact someone. Blessings & Peace
